A good ol' fashioned hockey game will take place on February 20 at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre.

Two emergency services will take centre ice for a good cause. Cochrane RCMP and Cochrane Fire Services will meet centre ice for a friendly face off as they raise awareness and food for the Cochrane Activettes Food Bank.

Marlin Glaspey, Cochrane Firefighter, says they are hoping Cochranite's come together in the same way they supported the veterans.

"You can drop them off at the firehall (Protective Services Building) or you can drop them off at the RCMP detachment. We want to do it for the next two weeks; from now until the Family Day game and then probably on Tuesday we'll take what we get to the Food Bank."

Debbie Howard, Food Bank Co Chair, says they are in a need of some specific items.

"Things we are short of are rice, oatmeal, canned fruit, all our soups, juice, stews and chili. We still are able to give those out but we are just short on them so we can't give as much as we like."

Howard says Cochranites are extremely generous both in monetary and food donations; this year it will come in handy as Howard does not believe current stock will last until the April food drive.

"Between this year and last year, same time we have increased by almost 200 hampers. We have seen a large increase; in the first two weeks of January we saw what did all of January last year, and that was just after Share Your Christmas where we handed out 209 hampers."

You can get into see the game for a monetary or non-perishable food donation on February 20 at SLSFSC, puck drops at 2pm.
