Cochrane RCMP is hoping someone, somewhere may have information on two collisions that occurred this past week.

The first incident occurred in the early morning hours of July 18th, says Corporal Troy Savinkoff, and originally came in as a 911 call. "It came in as an assisting EMS with a single vehicle rollover at approximately 5 km west of Highway 22 and Highway 1."

Cpl. Savinkoff states that once on the scene, RCMP realized there was much more to the story. "The RCMP believe the vehicle involved had rolled after striking another vehicle and at that point, once the vehicle had already rolled it was struck by a semi tractor-trailer unit. The truck driver of the semi tractor-trailer unit did remain on scene but police are currently conducting an investigation into a criminal hit and run for the other individual that left the scene."

The two females in the rolled vehicle suffered serious non-life-threatening injuries and although STARS was requested it was cancelled once it was discovered the injuries weren't as serious as they thought.

Savinkoff says an RCMP Collision Reconstructionist was called out to assist with the investigation. "We have seized some debris from a few different vehicles and that is being analyzed as we try to determine more information about this complex file."

The second collision came in yesterday morning (July 19), just after 1:30 am of a flatbed trailer carrying a mini excavator that was abandoned in the ditch on Highway 1A and west of Ghost Lake

"Upon arriving we observed that the trailer had apparently rolled however the truck that had been pulling the trailer had left the scene of the rollover."

Corporal Savinkoff says through their investigation they discovered the mini excavator was stolen out of Calgary and the flatbed trailer had no identifiable information, leaving them at a dead end.

If you have any information or saw something in either area in the early morning hours over the last couple of days call the Cochrane RCMP detachment at 403-851-8000 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
