Cochrane RCMP recently got help from several Search and Rescue teams in southern Alberta to look for a woman who's been missing since August of 2012.

Sara Coates was reported missing in August of that year.  Her blue Chevy Astro van was located in Morley in October of 2013 but, to date, Sara has not been found.

On September 12th and 13th, Cochrane RCMP and Search and Rescue teams from Cochrane, Foothills, Didsbury, and Badlands conducted searches in the Morley area.  Over 50 volunteers with the search and rescue teams contributed 644 working hours to the searches.

"Last week, we attended our previous search areas to assess the region in light of the extremely dry weather this year," says Cochrane RCMP Corporal Troy Savinkoff.  "We discovered a large amount of land that was previously covered in water was now dry and we wanted to ensure that we took full advantage of this,

Savinkoff is appreciative of the work done by search and rescue.  "Thanks to our partners with Search and Rescue we were able to get a large number of boots on the ground in a very short amount of time."

The media spokesperson for the Cochrane RCMP Cst. Kary Moore couldn't say what may have been found during the search, only that the investigation was ongoing and the RCMP were following up on the search.

Moore says the RCMP want to speak with anyone who might have had contact with Sara Coates before she went missing or anyone who might recall seeing her 1992 blue Astro van in the Cochrane area or west of the town back in 2012.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Cochrane RCMP at 403 851-8000 or contact Crime Stoppers if you wish to remain anonymous,
