The realignment of the Griffin Road is beginning to take shape by the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sport Centre and trail/off-leash park area and that means they'll be changes to traffic patterns during the construction phase.

Starting Monday June 26 there will be a new temporary parking area for the trail and off-leash user areas. The parking area will be located south of the existing parking area and across the Griffin Road but continues to be a convenient area to park while utilizing these areas. Users will need to walk across Griffin and are asked to keep their dogs leashed until they cross the road. Watch for signage.

When completed the Griffin Rd. will look much different and more complex as the town prepares for the future development of a new Bow River bridge. The road will be capable of handling a higher volume of  vehicles and two traffic circles will help direct flow vehicles to both the rec centre and to the future bridge.

Preparing the road alignment north of the river is the first construction phase in preparing for the new bridge.

"Throughout the course of the summer there is going to be changes in traffic patterns as we go on to the roadway and have to do a little bit of new alignment within the old alignment," explains Senior Infrastructure Manager Rick Deans. "A lot of the Griffin Rd. expansion will be in an alignment west of the existing alignnments but there will be times where there will be impact on traffic and there will be proper detouring in place at all times."
