Westbound lanes of Highway 1 are reopen after a single motor vehicle collision last evening (April 19).

Cochrane RCMP say they responded to a call of a semi truck and trailer that jack knifed across the westbound lanes of Highway 1, 5 kilometres east of Highway 22.

The incident caused westbound lanes of Highway 1 between the Calaway Park overpass and Highway 22 completely impassable.

Westbound traffic was diverted and motorists leaving the City of Calgary were asked to use alternate routes of Highway 1A or 8.

Salvage crews worked throughout the evening and an update from 511 Alberta confirmed traffic was flowing as normal at 5:11 am today (April 20).

There was no statement issued on cause or charges pending.
