Voting on whether we'll see a United Conservative Party in Alberta is now underway.

Voting by registered PC Party members started this morning (July 20) at 8 a.m. online and by phone and continues until 6 p.m. Saturday.

Locally, PC members have the option of voting in person at the Days Inn and Suites, 5 West Side Drive, from 12 noon to 4 p.m. on July 22.

Wildrose Party registered members will cast their votes online and by phone, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. In person voting for the Wildrose is only available at the Radisson Hotel in Red Deer.

The vote results are expected to be announced shortly the polls closed on Saturday.

On May 18, the PC's and the Wildrose came to an agreement in principle to unite and form a single conservative party. To ratify that agreement, 50 per cent of PC members and 75 per cent of Wildrose members must vote in favour of unification.

Party memberships surged in advance of the vote for both parties.
