A collision that occurred around 1:15 pm yesterday (October 5) has claimed the life of one woman and left three others transported to the hospital.

The collision occurred on Highway 22 and just north of Township Road 274 when a van travelling northbound collided head-on with a vehicle travelling south.

Stuart Brideaux, EMS Spokesperson, says there were four occupants in total between the two vehicles involved in the collision."When paramedics arrived they declared the single occupant adult female driver of one of the vehicles deceased at the scene, unfortunately. From the other vehicle, by ground, a Cochrane EMS crew transported an adult female to the Foothills Hospital in serious condition and an 11-year-old youth to Children's Hospital in serious condition, as well as STARS, flew a 14-year-old youth to the Alberta Children's Hospital also in serious condition."

RCMP has released that a 71-year-old female has passed and no name will be released. Cochrane RCMP and an RCMP Collision Analyst were still investigating the collision and factors that led up to it, as of last evening.

Our thoughts are with the woman's family and friends at this time.
