The sun was shining, the wind low and the vehicles were hot.

September 10 was the day the Cochrane Classic Car Club had been waiting to emerge for the last couple of years and, judging by the crowds filling the streets of Historic Downtown Cochrane, so were the people.

The Fall Colours Show and Shine got two thumbs way up by the people enjoying the labour and love of auto collectors.

"We're quite pleased with our results this year," says club president Ray Kaczmer. "We certainly have much better weather and that has brought out the car enthusiasts. Instead of having 30 or 40 cars out in rainy weather we're now in excess of maybe 230 cars this year. We've got a great crowd of car enthusiasts from outside Cochrane, but certainly Cochrane itself."

Dyno testing was being completed throughout the show and they had a steady stream of vehicles being measured for their performance at a reasonable cost. There were plenty of food trucks and exhibitors there, too.

There were also celebrity judges, including Banff-Cochrane MLA Cam Westhead and Mayor Ivan Brooker and representatives of major sponsors Cochrane Dodge and Northstar Ford, picking their favourites.

"We try to make it fun and not competitive among the car car crowd here," says Kaczmer.

It was the second part of a two-day Cowboy Trail one-two punch that started the day before with another successful show in Cremona.
