Just shy of 245 volunteers and their families were celebrated this past Saturday morning (April 6) at the Cochrane Movie House.

Attendees were not only thanked by Town Officials and those just out to show their support, but also treated to one of three movie screenings, treats, door prizes, and great entertainment by Riverside Jazz.

Renita Bartlett, Community Liason and Programmer for the Voluntary Sector says she was thrilled with the amount of energy in the air, as volunteers were treated to a morning celebrating their giving nature. "I am still smiling even now about the event. I think it was just so incredible to see everyone come out and watch it all unfold."

It doesn't matter whether your contribution is significant or in a smaller nature, all volunteers deserve to be celebrated. "There is no set expectation on how much someone volunteers; it is just celebrating everyone that just gives a little bit of themselves to make our community a better place."

Bartlett also gave thanks to Canlin Energy and Volunteer Alberta for helping sponsor the morning celebration, as well as the numerous businesses that donated door prizes for giveaways. "We want to give a big shout out to the businesses in our community for really stepping up and making this event amazing for our volunteers. They really know how to celebrate volunteerism in the community. We would also like to thank the Movie House for providing us that space and Riverside Jazz for the music, there are lots of people we would love to thank."

With National Volunteer Week being recognized until April 13th, Bartlett encourages the community to reach out and thank all those you know for making our town a great place to call home. "Make sure that you are giving all the volunteers in your life either a high-5 or a thank you, the work that they do is fabulous."
