PPC candidate Nadine Wellwood says the federal Conservatives continue to waffle on issues important to Albertans and believes we need a stronger voice in Ottawa.

During her open house last Saturday, the People's Party of Canada candidate says she heard concerns expressed by families, friends and party members on issues that are important to Albertans. Among them was the need for pipelines, balancing the budget and unfair treatment in the nation's capital.

She says the Conservatives keep changing their positions on important issues.

"On the pipeline issue, we hear the Conservative changing their language and they are now talking about a pipeline corridor," says Wellwood. "Well, a corridor is not a pipeline. We want a pipeline, not a corridor."

"We have families that are struggling to make ends meet and the Conservatives have now decided it's going to take them five years to balance the budget. Let's be honest, you're not balancing the budget. You're only getting four or five years in a term let so let's take that off the table for them. Maxime (Bernier, PPC leader) is saying we're going to balance it in two years."

She says it's time for stronger representation in Ottawa.

"Alberta has been treated very unfairly in Ottawa and we need a strong voice to take to Ottawa to point that out and address the issues."

Wellwood is increasing her profile as she continues to gear up for a fall federal election. More literature is being prepared and she'll soon begin door-knocking across the Banff-Airdrie constituency, which includes Cochrane.

PPC leader Bernier is scheduled to be in the Calgary area from July 3 to 10 and will likely be making stops in this riding.
