Parents this is your opportunity to weigh in on Alberta Education Curriculum.

Banff-Cochrane MLA Cameron Westhead, says with current curriculum ranging in age from 8 to 30 years it is time to ensure provincial curriculum meets the demands of today's students. Last fall, the government received overwhelming response to the first part of engagement, and Westhead is hopeful as many or more Albertans once again provide feedback for this second part of engagement.

"It is critical for us to hear from Albertans about the kinds of things they want to see included in the updated curriculum, and I would strongly encourage folks to participate in the survey and also feel free to ask any questions about the curriculum and see how they can get involved."

The second part of consultation will look at what students will learn and when they will learn it, the whole process of changing curriculum will continue until December 2022.

"Because it is such a large undertaking and we want Albertans to have an opportunity to participate, that is why it takes a number of years for it to be completed in full."

Last fall a two part survey was completed with over 32,000 Albertans responding to Part A and over 25,000 responding to Part B. Westhead can't stress enough how important and valuable feedback is.

"Albertans are full of good ideas and it is critical we hear from them as we are doing this review because we want to make sure all different aspects of the province are taken into consideration and that we give the best education possible for our students."

A link to the second part of engagement can be found here and feedback will be collected from now until June 2.
