Step one of the Province's roadmap strategy to ease COVID-19 restrictions goes into effect today.

After months of being closed to the public, restaurants will once again be opening their doors for dine in service with strict health and safety measures in place.

One-on- one fitness training and school accredited sports activities will also be starting back up today.

The number of active cases of COVID-19 continue to drop province wide.

Cochrane is currently sitting at six active cases, and Rocky View County is currently reporting 43.

Provincewide there are currently  6, 242 active cases, with 434 Albertans currently in hospital and 81 in ICU.

Health officials are monitoring for variant strains of COVID-19 that have a higher infection rate. As of February 5, Alberta has detected:

71 cases of the variant first identified in the United Kingdom (B.1.1.7) and 7 cases of the variant first identified in South Africa (B.1.351).
