Eligible Albertan parents and seniors can apply to receive $600 in affordability payments over the next six months.

The provincial government announced in November 2022 that with Alberta's economy doing well with a surplus from oil and gas they would put out a 2.4 billion dollar affordability package.

The time has now come for Albertans to apply for the payments through an online portal which opens today (Wednesday, January 18) at 9 a.m.

To apply eligible parents and seniors must have a Verified Account to prove their identity without paper documents. Applicants will also be expected to answer a series of questions to verify eligibility along with banking information.

Everyone who receives benefits through Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Income Support or the Alberta Seniors Benefit, or services through the Persons with Developmental Disabilities (PDD) program are already registered and will automatically receive their $100 payments starting January 31.

Applications can be submitted until June 30, 2023, and payments will be retroactive.
