The Buffalo Declaration was recently created in a joint effort by MP Blake Richards along with fellow MP Michelle Rempel Garner.

They have acted on their frustrations of what they say is unfair treatment of Alberta by the Federal government.

They say that the point of the Buffalo Declaration is to bring forth recommendations on how to solve the national unity crisis and the economic devastation in Alberta.

Richards says that history is repeating itself and that how Alberta is viewed and treated by the government and many parts of the country need to change.

He says "We explained and outlined historical cases on why Albertans feel this way and we've offered a series of solutions. There are many people in Alberta talking about separation right now. I am a proud Canadian. I want to see Canada work and I think the only way we can do that is by making some significant and fundamental structural changes to the way this country is governed and the way it is structured."

Richards says that Alberta's value has been overlooked for far too long.

He says "There's been a lot of parts in our Canadian history where Alberta has been treated as a second class part of the country. We haven't been given the attention that we deserve and we haven't been given the recognition of how important we are to the economy and to the country and that's the source of this frustration."

Richards says that he is looking at the Buffalo Declaration as a starting point for a conversation that needs to happen.

He is hoping that it will lead to a fundamental change in the country and is encouraging Albertans along with the rest of Canada to read through the document and leave their input. Richards says "If you have things to add if you've got things that you disagree with or you agree very strongly with let us know. We want this to be a conversation that leads to a fundamental change in this country. The Buffalo Declaration can be viewed here https://buffalodeclaration.com/
