The application deadline is drawing close for two $1,500 scholarships being offered by the Clearwater Endowment Fund/SLS Recreation Park Society.

Applications close on May 31 at 4 p.m.

Students who are attending high school in Cochrane or Springbank are eligible to apply. They must be graduating from high school and entering their first year of post-secondary education as a full-time student.

Michelle Everett, sales and marketing manager of the Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre, explains the successful candidates will be selected based upon the highest scores from a 100 point criteria.

"We just want to make sure everybody knows about it this year because we're still waiting for them to roll in," she says. "So, we encourage these graduating students to apply."

Family members of current SLSRPS board members and SLSFSC senior management are not eligible.

The Calgary Foundation administers the scholarship.

This will be the 12th year the annual scholarships have been presented to financially assist graduates in Cochrane and Springbank with their post-secondary studies.
