The public health risk for COVID-19 for Canada and in Alberta is considered low right now but health officials across the country are urging people to be prepared in the event of that changing.

Just yesterday Alberta's Chief Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Deena Hinshaw has confirmed Alberta's first presumptive case of COVID-19.

The person presumed to have the virus is a woman in her 50's who had traveled on a Grand Princess cruise ship in California. She is in isolation and is expected to make a full recovery.

Health experts are recommending that we make sure we have enough food, water and daily essentials in our home to last at least a couple of weeks in the event of a necessary quarantine.

They're also advising us to make sure we have everyday medicines on hand for colds and flu including acetaminophen and ibuprofen and making sure we have any essential daily medication that is doctor prescribed.

Hand sanitizer, toilet paper and masks are a hot commodity with many stores being sold out across Canada.

Of course we all know that washing our hands thoroughly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, avoiding touching your face and staying at home if you're sick is the number one way to prevent the spread of any virus.

But are you preparing for a possible pandemic or need to isolate? If so, what measures have you taken to prepare? Or are you just treating this like any other virus and not doing anything out of the ordinary to prepare?

Let us know.
