Twenty-six local athletes from Cochrane and Water Valley dojangs competed at the ITF Provincial Championships held in Calgary on March 7.

Approximately 425 athletes from across the province competed in this year's ITF Championship and the competitors from Trinity Taekwon-Do were put to the test in patterns, sparring, power breaking and specialty breaking competitions.

The team from Trinity Tae Kwon- Do range from white belt to black belt, and under the direction of Head Instructor Cam Macdonald and Assistant Instructor Tim Wuthrich, the athletes proved to be at the top of their game at the ITF. Trinity cleaned up, bringing home 27 medals in total; including ten gold medals, five silver medals and 12 bronze medals.

Head Instructor Cam Macdonald says his team's hard work paid off and he's proud of their accomplishments. "Everyone worked hard, had fantastic attitudes and demonstrated a high level of sportsmanship. A few standouts for me included three relatively new students Owen Cooper, Daisy Aird and Sam Mackenzie who took part in their first-ever competition and all three of them earning gold medals in sparring. Also, red stripe student Patton Buck who battled his way to a gold medal in sparring among a very large and challenging division."
