The Airdrie CFR Bisons were hoping to go into the Mac's Midget Hockey Tournament that begins on Boxing Day in Calgary with a pair of weekend wins in the Alberta Midget Hockey League.

Unfortunately, the Okotoks Oilers had a different idea.

After dumping the Red Deer Optimist Chiefs 4 - 3 for their third win of the season on Saturday, the Bisons came back to Airdrie to host the Oilers on Sunday.

Hunter Burgeson was the only Bison to find the back of the Oilers' net in the 6 - 1.

The Bisons are now gearing up for the Mac's tournament that draws some of the top AAA midget teams in Western Canada. They open against the Cariboo Cougars in the Flames Community Arena Blue, Dec. 26. The puck drops at 10 a.m.

The Bisons are in a pool that also includes the defending tournament champion St. Albert Raiders, Moose Jaw Warrior and Calgary Royals.
