Calgary Police believed they have recovered the bodies of Jasmine Lovett and her daughter Aliyah Sanderson in Kananaskis.

At 4 a.m. this morning two bodies were located in a heavily wooded area near Grizzly Creek, just off Hwy. 40. Formal identification is being completed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) and autopsies are expected to begin today.

A suspect has been taken into custody and charges are pending and may occur later today or tomorrow. The name has not been released but city police confirm the suspect is the same man who was taken into custody two weeks ago. At the time of his release on Apr. 26, the police indicated he remained the prime suspect.

No further details will be available until charges have been laid by the Justice of the Peace and the victims have been formally identified by the OCME.

On Apr. 25, the city police began treating the disappearances as a potential double homicide and extended their search into the Bragg Creek/ Kananaskis area. The search was briefly paused on Apr. 29 due to significant snow accumulation in the area.

The Calgary Police thank the many partner agencies, public and the media for their assistance in the investigation.
