Fundraising at the Boys & Girls Club here in Cochrane is more important than ever following cuts made in the Alberta budget that came down last month.

Executive Director of the Boys & Girls Club of Cochrane and area Jill Bilodeau says a $95,000 Children Services grant was cut so they're trying to adjust their budget and apply for new funding.

She says "One of our grants, our annual grants that we got from Children's Services was cut to us so we no longer receive that particular funding. However we do have the opportunity to apply for funding in different streams so we're very hopeful for that."

Bilodeau says they are in 19 service locations in and around Cochrane including school programming that they run in all of the schools in town.

She says at this point they don't even know how much money they can be applying for.

They have a couple of big fundraising events coming up including Breakfast with Santa this weekend and a New Year's Eve marathon with Martin Parnell for his 10th and final fundraising marathon.
