Rocky View County (RVC) continues to discuss the possibility of the Bow Rivers Edge Campground Society (BRECS) purchasing the land they currently lease from the county.

RVC council got their first look at what has been in negotiation for the last few months during an incamera session, July 11, and while nothing formally came out of the discussions, Division 9 councillor Bruce Kendall says the sale looks promising.

"I think we're on the right path," says Kendall, who says the next step is to write a letter of intent.

"There are issues we have identified and BRECS has identified. Now it's a matter of getting our expectations and those of BRECS to mesh so that everyone is happy."

Reeve Greg Boehlke shares the belief that the sale looks promising.

"There's a few t's to cross and i's to dot and away we go," says Boehlke.

It was an incamera session, so no further details could be disclosed.

BRECS is operated by the Cochrane Rotary Club and Cochrane Lions Club and is jointly owned by these service clubs, RVC and the town. It has proven to be a popular RV destination that also contributes funds annually to worthy causes through its community reinvestment program.
