The youth and lack of a preseason game showed in the Calgary Colts junior football team's season opener, Aug. 19, at McMahon Stadium

The Edmonton Huskies shut out the Colts 66-0 and completely overpowered them in every position on the field. They tallied 573 yards offensively and held the Colts to just 88.

Huskies Quarterback Tommy Yanchuk completed 14 of 26 passes finding 10 different receivers for 262 yards and threw a pair of touchdowns.  On the ground, they scored five touchdowns.

Their stifling defence forced three turnovers.

Colts QB Cole Belway finished 11 of 25 for 81 yards.

The Colts hit the road this weekend and will have their handfuls playing the reigning national champion Saskatoon Hilltops on their home field.

The Hilltops have won seven of the last eight national championships, only missing engraving their name on the cup in 2013.

The Colts return to challenge the Edmonton Wildcats at McMahon, Sept. 1.
