Canada has had an incredible start at the World Juniors, prevailing over Russia 5-3 on the first day of the tournament.

The atmosphere in the dressing room was hyped up says, Cochrane native, Dillon Dube, who is playing for the first time at the Juniors.  He shares his first experience on the World Junior circuit is incredible.

"To be able to hop on the ice to all the cheering fans was a moment I want to remember for the rest of my life. To be able to win against a big team like Russia was a huge confidence boost for us for the rest of the tournament."

The next game had Canada facing off to Slovakia, with a 5-0 shut out for Canadian goalie, Connor Imgram.

Dube, the left wing Cochranite, assisted Mississauga native, Micheal McLeod with the final goal of the game late in the third period.

"It was a thrill to be on the ice when a goal is scored, in that type of atmosphere. Anytime you are on the ice and there is a goal, you get shivers. It's a very cool feeling."

Canada hits the ice again on December 29, 4:30 pm to take on Latvia; followed by the ever popular Canada/US game taking place New Year's Eve at 11:30 am. The Canadian team is very much looking forward to the rest of the games, but the game on the 31st is the one they are most excited about.

"The night before (the US game) the boys are going to have a hard time sleeping as this is always a big exciting game for us."
