One of Cochrane's busiest intersections will be closed to traffic for approximately four weeks.

The intersection at Centre Ave and First Street is required to close temporarily so crews can remove and replace the water main and storm system infrastructure.

This is all part of the ongoing improvement to HWY 1A that the town of Cochrane is working on.

While the intersection is closed, the storm system in the East End will be upgraded.

"Relocating utilities and widening the road will optimize the Centre Avenue corridor, facilitating the efficient flow of traffic in our vibrant community. We understand the impact on traffic and kindly request your understanding and support as we undertake this significant project." stated the town of Cochrane in a post on Facebook.

The town expects this work to take approximately four weeks, weather permitting.

An exact date for when the intersection will close has not been given.
