Are you considering purchasing an electric vehicle (EV) or have questions about them?

The Cochrane Environmental Action Committee (CEAC) wants to help provide some insight during a presentation by Rajko Pavic, of the Go Electric Vehicle Corp, on Sat. Dec. 3, 1 to 3 p.m. in the SLS Family Sports Centre's curling lounge. It's the first topic of CEAC's free five-part Living Sustainably Speakers Series.

CEAC president Tim Giese says there is plenty of misinformation and myths about electric vehicles, and this session provides an opportunity to get the latest information through what is essentially EV 101.

"People have concerns about batteries, they have concerns about charging, they have concerns about how far can I go, how will it handle cold weather, especially when we have a cold snap like the one that's coming next week; so I'm hoping that he'll cover all of these things."

Pavic will also delve into the question of whether to buy new or used EVs, especially with new ones being difficult to obtain due to high demand. Go Electric Vehicle Corp. specializes in finding top-value used electric vehicles from across North America.

A question and answer period will follow Pavic's presentation. Local car dealers have also been invited to provide information on their models.

The five-part speaker series was created to help people reduce their environmental impact, which is part of CEAC's mandate.

Future topics in the series are residential solar (Jan. 14), wildlife awareness (Feb. 25), grow your own food (Mar. 25), and xeriscaping (Apr. 22).

While there's no charge to attend, people are asked to book in advance through Eventbrite to help CEAC properly prepare.
