Cochrane High's mixed curling team is heading to the ASAA provincials later this week after winning the south central zone banner at the Cochrane Curling Centre, Feb. 8.

Skip Austin Rohleder, third Talia Pike, second Isaiah Davis, lead Taryn Morris, and alternative Ava Gillis earned the berth into the provincials. With Rohleder unable to attend, Tace Morris and Julia Hanson will be joining the team as alternatives. The team is coached by Blaine Pike.

The Cobras men's team won the divisional banner and won silver at the zone championship after losing a close final to a Didsbury team. On the team were skip Tace Morris, third Owen Pike, second Fraser Dickinson, and lead Eric Davidson. They were coached by Max and Dawn-Marie Cinnamon. Tace Morris skipped the men's team to the zone championship last year to advance to provincials.

Drayton Valley's Frank Maddock High School is hosting the provincials, Feb. 22 to 24. The Cobras mixed team faces the Calgary zone winner in their first draw on Feb. 22 at 8 a.m., and the host Frank Maddock's team in the afternoon. They play two more games the following day to determine if they advance to the medals rounds on Saturday.

A total of 24 teams in mixed, men's and women's events converged on Cochrane for the championship, including three teams from both Bow Valley and Cochrane High

At divisionals the week before in Airdrie, the men's, women's and grade 9 rinks of Cochrane High all struck gold.
