The Cochrane bowling doubles team of Matt LaMontagne and Ryley Jackson will be striking out on their home lanes for the Bowl Alberta Doubles provincial championship being hosted by Cochrane Lanes on Mar. 20.

LaMontagne says there will be 13 teams from across Southern Alberta competing. Other competitors are coming from Calgary, Lethbridge, and Airdrie.

He says Cochrane Lanes has hosted major competitions in the past, but it has been a few years.

"It's great," says LaMontagne. "We don't get to host a tonne of provincials, so it will be good to get some other bowlers coming to the lanes."

Several local bowlers plan to spectate.

The doubles teams will each play four games. It's not about how high your average is, it's about how much you can beat it by in those four games. You're playing against yourself, and by doing so it levels the playing field. The team with the most pins over their average wins.

The play begins at 10 a.m. and will last about three hours.

LaMontagne and Jackson won the zone championship in Calgary to advance.
