COVID -19 numbers continue to climb provincewide with 187 new cases identified heading into the August long weekend.

According to Alberta Health Services, 90 Albertans are currently being treated in hospital for COVID, including 19 people in intensive care units and three new deaths were reported on Friday.

Cochrane's active case count has once again reached the double digits, now sitting at 14 active cases and Rocky View County is reporting 13 active.

Dr. Deena Hinshaw took to the podium on July 28, to provide her first live update in weeks on the COVID-19 situation in the province, at which time she announced the province's decision to remove remaining restrictions and treat COVID-19 like other respiratory viruses. 

Many Albertans are expressing their concern over further relaxing of provincial COVID-19 restrictions, and several health care professionals gathered at Calgary's MacDougall Centre on Friday in protest.
