Ken André is giving a huge shout out to his neighbours in Sunset Ridge for a wonderful act of kindness.

André says when he and his wife woke up this morning they saw messages of kindness and hope in front of their house.

André says "Growing up black in a white country, there have been several occasions where my colour has been a problem (for others). I’ve always kept the emotion out of it because it just hasn’t been worth it. Over the years, I’ve learned to look past it."

He says it was an emotional message to wake up to.

"I was at a loss and completely unable to look past and remain free of emotion. I was shocked in a way that I didn’t think was possible. I’ve lived in Canada my entire adult life and have never been so touched."

The Cochrane man says he wants to give his sincerest thank you to his neighbours in Sunset.

André says "I would like to say, from the very bottom of my heart, neighbour, thank you for this work. You restored a faith in me that was almost gone."

He says his home wasn't the only house on the block to receive a message, saying "The other black family on our street also has one in front of their home."

André says he doesn't know who was behind the message.
