Cochrane's very-own Michelle Spice is back home after spending a weekend with many of Canada's biggest names in country music.

The local photographer was hired to work with up-and-coming country music artist Tommy Charles at the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMAs) in Hamilton, ON.

She was also the official photographer for the charity, Music Rescues.

It's where they pair country music artists with adoptable puppies and dogs.

"It really highlights the need and shows that shelters are overpopulated right across Canada." said Spice.

Sometimes the artists end up walking away with a new best friend.

"Funny story, last year Cory from the country music band Lemon Cash fell in love with a dog called Bones and adopted him right then and there."

Spice has had the opportunity to photograph some of the biggest names in the country industry, including Tim McGraw, The Washboard Union, and High Valley.

"I have this philosophy of being present. It is so honouring of who you are as a human being to be fully present in this moment. So when I'm shooting a concert, I just stop and I just get into the moment, and I get into the moment of me being there without the camera in front of my face."

She is responsible for the artwork on numerous country singer's album covers. She most recently photographed Canadian country music artist, Chad Brownlee, who is out with brand new music.

She doesn't just hang out with country stars though, she's also an accomplished wedding photographer, who can often be seen snapping photos in scenic areas in and around Cochrane.
