The Cochrane Classic Car Club's Fall Colours Show N Shine is a go for Sunday, Sept. 12.

The event got the green light this week, and we can expect the Historic Downtown to be packed with everything from vintage cars from the 1920s to today's specialty vehicles.

Club president Ray Kaczmer says it will be held in combination with Cochrane Culture Days, which has a full slate of performances lined up for the Centennial Plaza the same weekend.

The popular event was cancelled last year due to the pandemic, but in 2019 attracted over 250 cars on a rainy day. It was questionable if it would go ahead until this week's decision.

Even with short notice, they expect a good turnout.

"With some good weather we're hoping to achieve 300 to 400 cars," says Kaczmer.

"I attended one in Airdrie not long ago, and they had close to 500 cars, so that's the kind of thing you can expect with this."

That volume of out-of-town participants is good news for local businesses, especially local restaurants.

Registration is $10 and will be accepted the day of the event.

"We hope the community will come out and see the great cars we have on display," says Kaczmer.

Cremona is holding its annual Show N Shine the day before. The two communities normally hold their shows in tandem.
