Cochrane is often described as a ‘pet town’ and now there is an event to prove it.

The Pet Expo is this Saturday (May 27) at the Cochrane Ag Society and event organizer Kailey Mitchell says there’s something for the whole family.

“We've got a whole marketplace with about 23 vendors. Vendors who make pet-related products, but then we've also got a lot of the nonprofits in the area, as well as some of the pet stores.”

“We've got family fun activities like face painting and balloon animals and Butterfields Acres farm corral is going to be there. The pony clubs coming in, they're bringing a couple of their horses and then we're also getting out in the outside corral area, we're gonna have agility demos from a group called The Bark Side.”

The free event also plans to feature food trucks and other outdoor activities throughout the day.

“We've got a stage where some of the nonprofits from the area are going to be speaking on different topics. Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuary is doing a presentation. The Humane Society is doing a presentation with a talk about adoptables.”

Pets are welcome but must be on a leash and under control at all times.

“We also have 100 swag bags for the first 100 families that are full of a bunch of goodies from the vendors and from the sponsors. It’ll be a great day for people to come out, grab some food, watch the show, see what's happening on stage, get their face painted, and we're gonna have a great family time.”

The Cochrane Pet Expo is Saturday, May 27, 2023, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cochrane Ag Society.
