Cochrane's Connor Bouchard is playing in the 2017 World U17 Hockey Challenge, it was announced by Hockey Canada this week.

Bouchard, 16, is among the 66 Canadian players being divided between three teams, Canada Red, White and Black, and one of the nine selected from Alberta's U16 gold medal team from last fall's Western Canada U16 Challenge Cup, now known as the WHL Cup.

The Canadian teams will be competing against the Czech Republic, Finland, Russia, Sweden and the United States. The tournament is being hosted by Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, Nov. 5 to 11.

In July, Bouchard was among the 111 players participating in the July national under-17 development camp.

The centre stands at 5'6", 152 lb. and has cracked the roster for the WHL's Tri-City Americans. In the first eight games of his rookie season he has two goals. He was picked 161 overall in the 2016 WHL draft.
