Rocky View County has launched the first of three phases of public consultation on its 2024 budget.

Until Aug. 21, it invites county residents and businesses to participate in a brief survey and join an open discussion forum.

For the second year, it is offering an interactive educational tool called Budget Allocator to gain input from ratepayers on how they would balance tax revenue.

Solely an informational tool used for educational purposes only, it provides a mock budget that you can try balancing to gain a better understanding of what you get for your property tax dollars and how spending decisions affect the county services that are important to you.

The public engagement continues in September when the draft budget will be shared with the public for comment and review. In-person information sessions will be offered.

In November, the final budget will be presented to RVC council. Members of the public will be invited to a council meeting to speak

The Town of Cochrane hasn't finalized the full body of its public engagement piece. So far, it has utilized a third party to conduct a random survey. Other details won't be known until September.
