Many local businesses and organizations are gearing up to serve Cochranites a whole lot of flapjacks as Cochrane celebrates Stampede.

It has become an annual tradition for some businesses to serve up delicious pancakes and provide entertainment to young event goers, and this year the tradition continues.

Robin Mitchell, General Manager of Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre (SLSFSC), says events like these are important to building community."

"Calgary does a huge bonus job of being able to look after Stampede and invite everybody, not only the locals, but also the people that are visiting. It's nice in the communities because we have so many people that come out to Cochrane to show them we are part of the Stampede and we can be part of the fun and festivities that they look forward to every year."

Mitchell shares that SLSFSC will have enough pancakes for around 1000 people and a whole lot of sideline entertainment.

"There's going to be Crock A Doodle from Royal Oak, face painting, and of course the Kid Zone bouncers for the kids to go bouncing on, and Wish I May Parties princesses will be in place as well."

There is no cost to the breakfast but Mitchell would like the public to support the Cochrane Activettes by bringing a non- perishable food item(s) for the food bank.

Mitchell thanks a number of participating community businesses for making the event successful year after year.

"It is going to be a great time, rain or shine. Come down for some good food, good eats, and a lot of fun."
