Calgary Police Services released that the body of a man found west of Cochrane has been deemed a homicide.

CPS say they are now investigating this incident as well as the bodies of three individuals found in a burned out car in Sage Hill as being connected.

A CPS spokesperson says autopsies are continuing on the three bodies found in Sage Hill as well as the man found near Highway 8 and 22. "We can now officially identify the third victim in the car as 39-year-old Tiffany Ear and the man found near Highway 22 as 26-year-old Hanock Afowerk."

Investigators are exploring the possibility that previous named victims Glynnis Fox, 36,  and Cody Pfeiffer, 25, along with Tiffany Ear were merely in the wrong place at the wrong time with the wrong people. Fox and Ear were sisters and may have been targeted in an attack against Afowerk.

"Whenever we do investigations like this we do background checks based on the victims and that takes a lot of time to do that. Based on our investigation at this point, checks in the community, and information that has come in from the public we have been able to piece that part of it together and we believe Mr. Afowerk was the target of this."

The spokesperson goes on to say that the two women leave behind multiple children between them and that multiple people may have been involved. Investigators at this time are continuing to search for additional crime scenes.

While CPS were unable to elaborate on details, they say all victims suffered significant traumatic injuries.

The spokesperson, pleaded for public assistance. "We know there is people in the community that have information regarding this event. We know that people know what happened and if they're scared or in any way hesitant to contact us they can do so anonymously through Crime Stoppers or through our tip line. We are imploring the community and those that may know something about it to contact us."
