A pair of Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) teams are coming to Cochrane for an exhibition game Saturday, Sept. 7 at the Cochrane Arena.

The Canmore Eagles will be facing off against the Calgary Canucks at the Cochrane Arena in a game that goes at 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles are calling it game two in their Bow Valley Exhibition Series that also takes them to Airdrie for a Sept. 4th matchup against the Olds Grizzlys.

Eagles head coach and general manager Andrew Milne says their facility isn't ready so they're taking their show on the road.

"The good news is we're going to some pretty good communities and hopefully can grow our game a little bit in Alberta and take it to some nontraditional AJHL markets."

"It's going to be exciting for the guys. They like to play on the road and like to get in front of new markets. If we can create a bit of a fan base somewhere else that's exciting for us."

The Cochrane Generals will be selling 50-50 tickets at the game.

"There's a great relationship between our teams so we hooked up with them and hopefully that will help grow the game a little bit."

Some former Generals' players and staff have gone on to join the Eagles organization. Currently, former Gens head coach Evans McFeeters is their assistant coach and Jacqueline Hurlbert, who was a general manager here, is their director of business operations and community outreach.

Kurtis Jones, the Gens new head coach, was an assistant coach with the Eagles for six years.

In 2016, the Calgary Canucks did hold a regular-season game in Cochrane and drew a large crowd. The team's captain of the day was Cochrane's Chandler Irvin.

Advance tickets are now available online.
