A scene for the film Wind River: The Next Chapter is set to be shot at the Stoney Nakoda Resort and Casino this week.

The resort has announced the closure of its casino for the entire day on Mar. 23 for the film production.

The sequel stars Scott Eastwood, Jason Clarke, Chaske Spencer, and Martin Sensmeier, who is reprising his role as Chip Hanson from the original.

It's a followup to the 2017 neo-Western written and directed by Taylor Sheridan, who went on to create the popular television series Yellowstone. The first film had success at the box office and starred Jeremy Renner and Elizabeth Olsen.

The story has terror escalating as a wave of murders remains unsolved. The FBI enlists the help of Hanson, who finds himself embroiled in a desperate and dangerous fight between the authorities, a vigilante, and the reserve he calls home.

Kari Skogland, best known for her work on the Marvel series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, is in the director's chair. Patrick Massett and John Zinman wrote the script.

Principal photography began last week in Calgary and area and is scheduled to wrap up Apr. 24.
