The Bow Valley Grizzlies senior men's team is hitting the Mitford Pond pitch for the first time since the fall of 2019 to play some 15s this Saturday.

The Red Deer Titans are in town for a game that starts at 4 p.m.

Grizz head coach Tyler Hawes says they're looking forward to playing on their home field and welcomes spectators to come to cheer on the Grizz.

"I'm hoping they're a lot of people out. We'll see what happens, especially if it's a great day like we're expecting."

Last weekend, the Grizz played their first game of the season against the Foothills Lions in Okotoks.

Hawes says the Grizz were within a score at the end of the first half, but the Lions dominated in the second.

"Probably a little bit of fitness, maybe a few missed tackles caught up with us, and they scored some long-distance tries."

He says they have a few things to work on, but all-in-all the team enjoyed the return to play.

"It was a good run out for everybody. We lost in the end, but it was a chance to stretch the legs and play some 15s after a year and a half."
