Who's ready to party for the pups!?
The annual Hair Of The Dog fundraiser for the Cochrane & Area Humane Society is back on May 13. Starting in 2015, the event has become a staple in Cochrane.
Fundraiser co-founder and organizer Kendra Watt says it all began out of love for Watt's own dog, Osa.
"Back in 2015, I lost one of my dogs that was very near and dear to me. Everyone has that one special dog, and my best friend was really close to this dog as well."
Watt and Keri Jensen put their heads together to create the perfect tribute. "We thought maybe we'll do a park bench or plant a tree or something. Then we ended up just throwing a big party inviting a whole bunch of people and we thought we'll raise funds for the Humane Society. And that's how it started nine years ago."
Watt says they expect to bring in an average of $40,000 to help the Humane Society with their daily needs.
Attendees can expect a delicious buffet dinner, live band, live and silent auction, raffle tickets for prizes, 50/50 draw and all with proceeds going to the Cochrane & Area Humane Society.
Erol Yersel from Erol Automotive joined the team to help organize the event and act as the auctioneer.
