Photo booth, face painting, games, and of course incredible ice cream were all part of the 75th anniversary of MacKay's Ice Cream in the heart of the Historic Downtown.

There were many well-wishers who dropped by during the four-hour celebration on July 30. The MacKay family has put Cochrane on the map with their famed ice cream. It's been in the family for three generations and has created over 300 flavours of ice cream over its 75-year history.

Samples were provided of an updated version of one of their classics.

"We decided to go old school. We went back a few years and so we're making our classic buttery butter brickle, which is a butterscotch ice cream with a butterscotch ripple, and we're kicking it up a notch. We're using original Macintosh toffee pieces in it, so it'll be delicious," explains Meghan Tayfel, who owns and operates the company with her husband Mark.
