The Cochrane Generals are hoping that their success in the HJHL regular season will translate to results on the ice in playoffs as they host the Strathmore Wheatland Kings Tuesday for the start of their best-of-seven series.

Cochrane was dominant throughout the majority of the regular season, stringing together a franchise record 62 points and winning all 4 of their matches against Strathmore this year.

The Generals were riding a 14 game point streak entering the post-season and have won their last 4 games entering the Conference Semifinals.

Strathmore enters the series on a 2 game winning streak after sweeping the Banff Academy Bears 7-5 and 4-3 this past weekend to advance to the second round.

Despite back to back playoff wins, the Wheatland Kings went on to lose their final 5 games of the regular season and had only picked up one victory in their final 9 games to close out the year.

Regardless, the Wheatland Kings have given trouble to Cochrane over the course of the season, nearly coming back to steal two wins away from the Generals in the final four games of the regular season.

Rested up for the playoffs, the Generals will face off with the Wheatland Kings at Spray Lake Sawmills Family Sports Centre on Tuesday at 8:00 pm to mark the start of their best-of-seven series.

The series will then shift to Strathmore on Friday before Cochrane hosts game 3 on Saturday, and will also host games 5 and 7 if necessary on Tuesday, February 23rd and Saturday, February 27th.

Strathmore was on the edge of making it to the South Conference Final last season after falling in 7 games to the Coaldale Copperheads, while Cochrane is looking to get over the hump after being swept away by the Okotoks Bisons in their Conference Semifinal last season.
