"Whew!"

Two close games in a home-and-home series against the Stettler Lightning proved more of a challenge than the Cochrane Generals may have anticipated.

Friday night, the Gens came from behind in the third, scoring two unanswered goals in the third to win, 6-5.

Sunday night's rematch here saw the Lightning score two in the third to force overtime. It took a powerplay goal by Brandon Aab to nab the two points.

Despite there struggles, the Gens continue to be in a deadlock for second in the south division of the Heritage Junior Hockey League with the Coaldale Copperheads.

It could be a telltale weekend for the Gens. The league-leading Okotoks Bisons are in town Friday night in their second visit to the Cochrane Arena this season.

Sunday, the Gens are in Medicine Hat to face the Cubs.

A pair of losses over the weekend saw the Medicine Hat Cubs ease back into third.
