There is a group of residents at Grande Avenue Village who are keeping very busy knitting afghans for charity. The ladies range from expert to beginner in the knitting world, but they are all doing their best to create beautiful, warm blankets for charity.

Jo Hutchinson, resident knitter saw a need for the group. She says, "Another lady and I, when we first moved here 2 years ago, were concerned that even though there were lots of organized activities, there were an awful lot of able bodied women sitting around doing nothing. So we said, can't we do something for charity and pay back to the community." The ladies have been busy knitting ever since.

They recently sent 14 afghans to the Salvation Army to be distributed to various charities and they also sent 15 blankets to The Eagle's Nest in Morley.
