A warmup to the upcoming Calgary Rugby Union season was a successs for both the Bow Valley Grizzlies men's and women's teams.

The men clawed their way to victory in the Jasper Sevens Rugby Tournament, Apr. 29, and the newly-formed women's team claimed their first win.

"It was a great start to the season," says Griz coach Tyler Hawes. "I didn't actually make it up, but it sounds like the boys had a great time and the women's got their first win, too. They had a blast."

The roots of the tournament date back to the mid-80s and it has become a popular warmup tournament for men's and women's teams. This year's tournament was broken into four categories.
