The Bow Valley Grizzlies are the 2016 Calgary Rugby Union Division 2 City Champions after edging the Calgary Saracens 40-28 on Saturday.

This is the first finals win ever for the Grizz, who will now play Edmonton's Leprechaun Tigers for the Div. 2 Provincial title.

Bow Valley Grizzlies coach Tyler Hawes says the City Finals against the Saracens was a difficult game to win.

"It went really good, probably wasn't the best rugby we've played this season, but we still got a win," he says. "There was some nice tries scored, there probably should have been a few more, but we pulled it off so that's all that matters really."

Hawes shares this has been the Grizzlies' most successful season to date, the team is excited to bring that success to the upcoming Provincial match.

"The boys are through the roof, they're pretty excited, I was super happy for them, they put in a lot of work this year and to get that reward was something special. We're looking forward to this week and preparing for our last game."

The Grizz will face off against the Leprechaun Tigers at the Calgary Rugby Union, this Saturday, Oct. 1 at 2 p.m.
