A heat warning has been put in effect for the Bragg Creek and Rocky View County area.

Daytime temperatures are expected to reach in between 29 to 34 degrees celsius today according to Environment Canada.

Temperatures should cool this evening and tomorrow before heating back up on Wednesday.

Environment Canada is recommending people located within the warning zones to consider refraining from doing outdoor activities until the temperature cools, typically in the morning or evening, if you are going to be spending time outside take frequent breaks from the warm weather, spend time in cooled indoor areas when you can, stay hydrated drinking plenty of water, while avoiding alcoholic and caffeinated beverages, and do not leave any human or animal inside of a closed vehicle for any length of time.

Be on the watch for symptoms of heat stroke or heat exhaustion. Symptoms can be a lack of sweat, confusion, fainting, and unconsciousness, high body temperature.

People who are at increased of getting heat exhaustion or heat stroke are seniors, infants, children, and individuals with pre-existing kidney, nervous system, lung, heart, mental health or diabetic conditions, outdoor labourers, the socially isolated are also at risk.
