Dylan Holloway has cracked the Edmonton Oilers lineup and will be lacing up tonight in their season opener at home against the Vancouver Canucks.

Holloway turned heads in training camp and the preseason and has been teamed up with linemates Zach Hyman and Leon Draisaitl.

He's expecting the play to crank up in the regular season.

"The regular season's a step up from preseason, so I've got to be ready for a faster pace. Now it starts, now it's time to get going."

He says working closely with his linemates is key.

"I think it's important to use your teammates, especially for me playing with some established hockey players and some of the best players in the league, so giving them the puck and trying to get open is probably my best bet for now."

After being picked 14th overall by the Oilers in the 2020 NHL draft, a wrist injury required surgery twice and he played 33 games with their AHL affiliate, the Bakersfield Condors. He made his NHL debut in game four of the Western Conference Final against the Colorado Avalanche.

Thursday night, Cochrane's Dillon Dube opens his fifth season with the Calgary Flames against the Colorado Avalanche. He's got new linemates with Nazem Kadri and Andrew Mangiapane and will play right wing after typically centered a line before.

Dube is fine with wherever head coach Daryl Sutter believes he'll have the biggest impact on the team.

"I think for me, just play with speed and try to push the pace. I think I try to do that on any line I get an opportunity to play with. That's my plan with them is to get my legs moving and try to create space for them."

On Saturday, Holloway will be getting his first taste of the Battle of Alberta. Dube is no stranger to the added excitement of the Edmonton-Calgary rivalry but will have his first chance to see what impact Holloway will have on the Oilers.

Defenceman Ty Bauer has two Winnipeg Jets training camps under his belts and has been assigned to start the season with their AHL affiliate Manitoba Moose. In the spring, he signed a three-year entry-level deal with the Jets. As captain of the Seattle Thunderbirds, he helped lead the team to the WHL championship series.
