The Rockyview Silvertips scored an important win last night at home in their first game against a central division opponent.

Ahead 6-5 after the first period, the Tips opened up a 13-6 lead in the second and added two in the third to beat the Chill 15-6 at the SLS Centre.

Up until last night, they had been playing teams outside of their division.

The Tips have a pair of home game division match-ups this week. Saturday afternoon, the Mountain View Mavericks are here and Sunday they cap off the weekend with a matinee against the Red Deer Rampage. The Rampage and Silvertips are currently tied for first in the central division with identical 5-2 records.

The Rockyview Rage continue to be hot and are on a two-game winning streak coming into Saturday night's home game against the Strathmore Venom.

The Rage are in a dead heat with the Venom. Both have a 4-2 record and are tied for third in the nine-team south division.

It's a chance for a little redemption against the Veom, who won their first meeting of the season in mid-May.
