Cochrane Generals captain Patrick Forde scored 43 seconds into overtime to wrap up a 5-4 win on the road last night against the Mountainview Colts.

Meanwhile, the Rocky Rams help the Gens expand upon their lead in the HJHL's north division with a 5-3 win over the Red Deer Vipers.

In their lone game of the weekend, the Colts' Jordan Sanders scored a powerplay goal with 25 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. Forde's game-winner also came on a powerplay, fed by linemate Tristan Ripplinger.

Powerplays proved to be a huge factor in the game. Six of the nine goals came with players in the sin box, three by each team.

Forde had two on the night, Ripplinger had one in his three-point performance, Riley Hopper had a goal and assist, and Dagan Kadlec scored the other goal.

Connor Stephenson earned three assists, and defenders Joel Klassen, Jace Moffat, and Jordan Marks each had one.

Home ice hasn't been a factor in the Gens-Colts series so far this season that's tied at two games apiece. Wins by both teams have come on the road.

The win opened up a six-point lead for the Gens in the north division over the Vipers. The Vipers are at home against the Sylvan Lake Wranglers.
